ABOUT REGIONAL TRAIL ADVOCATES

RTA's Story
This collection of trail volunteers and employees from Owen and Monroe counties began meeting many years ago as a group to apply for a regional grant (We weren’t successful).
Through three rounds of Indiana Next Level Trails projects, we realized we had a vital start to a regional trail connection. Karst Farm Greenway, Heritage Trail, & MYPath. In 2022, we began meeting again to connect our three Next Level Trail projects … and more.
McCormick’s Creek State Park serves as a keystone for our regional connection, so we meet monthly at McCormick’s Creek to share updates and plan for the future.
Through collaboration, we are stronger for future grant applications and projects.
RTA's Mission
As Monroe County, Owen County, & their communities continue to promote trails and recreational opportunities for their citizens, trail advocates in those communities realize they have many shared interests. The Regional Trail Advocates united with a shared objective: to work together & find solutions as a team, aiming to improve the expanding network of local trails.
